After i’ve fallen in love with the beautiful beach cities in Southern California along the coast (Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, the Orange County and San Diego), it’s time to leave the ocean side for a while and drive into new adventures!
No matter if you start in Los Angeles or in San Diego, there are some great places worth a stop in the Californian desert on your way to Las Vegas, so here we go:
Where you need to stop on the road to Las Vegas
After miles of nothing but the desert you driving in through fields of windmills and you know: Palm Springs is near! And suddenly there are hundreds of palm trees, flowers, shops and cafes that will show you the way along the Palm Canyon Drive. Enjoy the mountain view and the palm tree avenues in the capital of desert cool with a huge iced coffee!
The high desert occupies more than 25,000 square miles and four Parks that are located in the Mojave Desert (Death Valley National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the Mojave National Preserve).
Joshua Tree National Park
The Joshua Tree National Park is a must stop on the road to Las Vegas and you can’t miss it anyway! Known for it’s unique rock formations and of course, the evergreen Joshua trees that grows only here, you can camping, hiking and rock climbing or just enjoy the nature in this beautiful State Park.
And of course: in the middle of the empty road
Just leave your car between nothing but the empty streets and the hot desert highway, take a deep breathe and realize that the path is the destination and the best time for a new adventure is now!
